Our policies and reports
Our policies and reports help families understand how our school works. Our annual report and school plan show what we’ve done and how we’re improving each year. Our policies address attendance, absences, behaviour, uniform and how we respond to your concerns.
Annual school report
Each year, we share our progress in the annual school report. It gives families a clear picture of how our school is performing and how we’re supporting every student’s success. The report reflects our commitment to openness, accountability and continuous improvement.
The report includes:
- what we’re doing well and where we’re improving
- student achievement and academic progress
- our school vision and goals
- key highlights and milestones
- challenges we’ve faced and how we’re addressing them.
School excellence plan
Our school excellence plan (SEP) is a working document that shows our priorities in learning, teaching and leading. It explains our focus areas for improvement and how we plan to get there. We write our SEP with help from our school community so it reflects our shared priorities.
School behaviour support and management plan
Our school has a school behaviour support and management plan (SBSMP). The SBSMP helps us create a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all students. It sets clear expectations for student behaviour. This includes how we respond to bullying and cyberbullying. We work together with our school community to shape the plan and review it each year.
Assessment and reporting procedures
At Mt Riverview Public School, we use a variety of ways to assess how students are learning and progressing. We keep families informed with clear and meaningful reports sent home twice a year and hold parent-teacher interviews to talk about each child’s achievements and areas for growth. Our school follows guidelines set by the Department of Education to make sure our assessment and reporting is fair, accurate, and helpful—so every student and their family know how they’re doing and how we can support them to reach their goals.
Attendance procedures
The Mount Riverview PS ‘Attendance Procedures’ follows the guidelines documented in the NSW Department of Education’s School attendance policy (2025) and Student Attendance in Government Schools Procedures (2015). The policy outlines responsibilities for managing student attendance at the school. It supports parents in ensuring their children's enrolment and regular attendance, establishes school-based strategies to promote and monitor attendance, and provides guidance on responding to concerns such as child protection and wellbeing. The policy further illustrates procedures for principals to apply for support when strategies to address poor attendance have been exhausted.
Digital Devices
Our school has a Digital devices and online services plan to support our students to develop and maintain safe, responsible and respectful behaviour in their use of digital technology.
Enrolment procedures
At Mount Riverview Public School, enrolling your child is a process designed to welcome all students and support their needs. The principal considers each application, making sure they understand things like your child’s background, language, or any learning or health requirements they might have. If your child needs extra support, we plan for this from the start, so they feel safe and settled. Once your child’s enrolment is approved, they are added to our register and their attendance begins. If there are any questions or concerns about enrolment, families are encouraged to contact us—we’re here to help. All our procedures are fair and inclusive, following Department of Education guidelines.
Learning support procedures
At Mount Riverview Public School our learning and support procedures is designed to create a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for all students. We use evidence-based approaches, such as explicit teaching and trauma-informed practices, to promote positive behaviour and ensure every student has the opportunity to participate in their learning. Partnerships with parents and carers are vital, helping establish shared expectations and supporting student behaviour management. Clear school-wide expectations and rules are set, and whole-school programs and targeted interventions are implemented to meet the needs of all students. These procedures ensure students are supported across all stages, from prevention to individual intervention, reinforcing the principles of inclusive practice.
